USSR Russian Soviet marine naval binnacle compass withbox 1973r KMW-T FOR PARTS`

  
This vintage binnacle compass has definitely seen some use. I know very little about maritime instruments, and so can't give you much of a description about this thing, apart from what you see in the photos. The main tag shows 1973r / KMW-T / BEC 10K / N 69 which I believe indicates it dates from 1973.

Two of the three latches for the lid have rotted away, and the liquid for the compass has picked up some floaters. I have no way of testing it, and so I can't verify that it does whatever is supposed to happen when it is plugged in and the knobs are turned.

Still, it's just a really cool thing, and it has a big sturdy box. To give a size reference, the box measures 14" x 14" x 14. And this thing is heavy.

I package as securely as possible, with multiple layers of cardboard and padding. And this compass, with the box, weighs over 55 pounds. As a result, the finished package is quite large and very heavy. I'm afraid that I have no solution for that, and apologize on behalf of the postal services.
