Pobeda(Victory) is a solemn and beautiful name worn by Soviet watches. It is not surprising that everyone who owned them was extremely proud of this. As a rule, they were received as a memorable gift, or as a reward for labor achievements in the workplace. Up to this point, the watch industry was not sufficiently developed in the USSR, and mainly used foreign counterparts that could not afford the population. But everything has changed thanks to the Pobeda.

The watch under the name Pobeda was first made in 1946 - on the anniversary of the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War. Pobeda is one of those watch brands of the Soviet period that was not tied to a specific enterprise. The birth of this brand is surrounded by legends - to the extent that it is believed that the top Soviet leadership had a hand in the approval of the name itself, as well as design and some technical characteristics. Namely, in 1945, Comrade Stalin decided to perpetuate the memory of the heroes of the Soviet people and initiated the creation of several projects called Pobeda - the production of watches and cars of the same name. The first copies were released in the first quarter of the next year.

Such a deadline for preparing for the mass industrial production of traditional mechanical watches is hardly realistic, and not in vain: in fact, the development of watches began even before the war, namely in 1936, when, with the participation of specialists from the French watch company Lip SA d'Horlogerie in Penza, base of the Plant. Frunze created a watch production from scratch. Lip, in accordance with the contract, also provided the Soviet side with technical documentation for several mechanisms, including a round 26 mm R26 caliber (R - rond, round), then work began on its adaptation and transformation into a K-26 caliber (K - round), it is the caliber of Pobeda , it is subsequently caliber 2602 and its modifications.

The work, as it is easy to understand, was already stopped in 1939 due to the outbreak of World War II - the French were not up to what, however, did not happen to another project initiated jointly with Lip - the Zvezda watch on the adapted T-18 caliber. The K-26 project was restarted in 1945, and, interestingly, together with the Zavod Plant. Frunze (in May 1946 it was renamed the Penza Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree of the watch factory) the development of the Pobeda watch was started by the First Moscow Watch Factory named after Kirov, who also began their production in early 1946. The first copies of the watches were collected at the Penza watch factory, and By the spring of 1946, the Kirov Watch Factory began their mass production.

The Pobeda in the classic form was carried out on the conveyors of the Moscow Watch Factory. By the mid-50s, this watch also began to produce the 2nd Moscow Watch Factory. Further, ZiM also took the initiative in Kuibyshev, who continued to produce Pobeda until the mid-90s.
