Soviet Russian Medal Order of the Red Star, Navy Colonel, Siege of Leningrad

  
Soviet Russian USSR medal Order of the Red Star with serial number in the 900 thousand range, awarded in 1944 to Navy Lieutenant-Colonel Nikolai Gusev, Planning Officer for the Railway Department of the Baltic Fleet's Staff, for 15 years of long service (a Citation is available). Gusev was a participant of the Siege of Leningrad ; during the Siege and after, he organized transfer of men and material along railways in support of the Baltic Fleet. For his efforts, he was awarded a second Order of the Red Star and an Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class ; the citations for both awards reference the challenging operational conditions of the Siege. He also received the Medal for the Defense of Leningrad (as well as the Medal For Victory over Germany).
