At the start of the Second World War, they moved the entire factory from Moscow, to a safer location in the east of Russia, the city of Chistopol, and it is still there today, producing watches. Vostok has a long history of supplying the Russian Military with watches and through other divisions, specialised products including radio and radar systems. All Vostok watches are produced completely'in-house', from start to finish. Whilst the rest of the world moved on to quartz powered watches in the 70's and 80's, the then USSR, had the technology, but lacked the infrastructure to distribute watch batteries, and so they carried on with traditional mechanical watches. Making them robust and reliable. Owning a Vostok watch is like owning a piece of history, they have a story, and for me, that is the important thing.
