This lens is very sought after and rare. The optical scheme was adopted by Leica Leitz Summicron 50. The lens has very high quality optical properties due to the use of very high quality lens glass (some sources say that pure crystal is used). A special feature of this lens is a double-winged electronic shutter, which when covering a square opening forms.
The picture of the MC Lens Zenitar-ME1 50 mm 1: 1,7 has a specific bokeh. Blurred circles in the side of the diaphragm 1.7 - quite round, farther when they close - squares with varying degrees of roundness and at the opening 8 and smaller - is almost that right square. Zenit-18 is a follow-on of Zenit-19, using mostly the same SLR body, but with omitting the DOF preview button, and transferring the activation of the light meter from it to the shutter release. This camera also offers aperture priority automatic exposure, a significant first for Zenit M42-mount cameras.
Even more significantly the camera has a support for full aperture metering with special M42 lenses equipped with proper electronics and electric contacts. Shutter: 1s-1/1000s + B +T.
