
For sale an original USSR (Soviet) ceremonial Red Banner dated 1971, dedicated to the Tyumen Regional Headquarters of Student Construction Teams and the "Tyumen Student Construction Project 1971" campaign. This banner represents a key period in the development of Western Siberia, when thousands of Soviet students participated in large-scale construction projects connected with the rapid expansion of the Tyumen oil and gas region. The front side bears the inscription "Tyumen Regional Headquarters of Student Construction Teams - Tyumen Student Construction Project 1971" together with the official emblem of the campaign. The emblem features an oil derrick and the inscription "Tyumen Student Construction Project 1971", a design also found on commemorative badges issued to participants.
The use of the same symbol on both badges and this banner indicates that it served as the official insignia of the 1971 Tyumen student construction movement and reflected the region's growing importance as the center of Soviet oil and gas development. The reverse side features the famous Soviet slogan Workers of the World, Unite! ", a portrait of Vladimir Lenin, and the inscription "To the Best Zonal Student Construction Team. This suggests that the banner was awarded as an honorary prize to one of the top-performing student construction brigades participating in the regional campaign. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Tyumen became the center of the Soviet Union's oil and gas expansion. Student Construction Teams (SSO) played a major role in building housing, industrial facilities, roads, and other infrastructure across Western Siberia. By 1971, approximately 2,500 students were participating in the movement in the Tyumen region. Organized by the Tyumen Regional Headquarters under the supervision of the Komsomol, these brigades contributed directly to the development of new settlements and the infrastructure supporting the Soviet oil and gas industry. The dimensions are 135 cm by 110 cm. The banner is in good overall condition for its age.Please note that the flag sleeve (the section designed to hold the flagpole) has some damage and is partially torn.
