Soviet Russian USSR Medal Order of the Red Star in the 3.5 million serial number range awarded belatedly (in the 1960s) to AIRBORNE MEDIC Vasily Ivanovich Chumak for extraordinary heroism on the battlefield in 1944. Chumak served as medic in the. 15th Guards Parachute Regiment of the legendary 4th Guards Parachute Division.

He was awarded a Medal for Combat Service in the summer of 1943 for treating for treating the wounded at Kursk! In the Summer of 1944 he earned an Order of the Red Star for saving 70 wounded soldiers, and saving a heavily wounded soldier from no man's land.

Chumak earned this Order of the Red Star for heroism treating wounded soldiers on the field of battle during the forcing of the Tisza River and in battles for the city of Miskolc, Hungary. He treated and carried to safety 31 wounded soldiers and officers and their weapons.

Moreover, he continued to save lives on the battlefield. Despite being severely wounded himself. Condition is outstanding, as seen in the images!
