An extremely rare and interesting museum quality Russian oil painting by a prominent Russian Soviet female artist Nina Petrovna Neratova 1911 - 2000. The painting is a self portrait of the artist executed in 1940, oil on canvas on the original stretcher. The paiting is signed and dated on the reverse. Nina Neratova was born into a well to do Russian Nobel family.

Her father Petr Ivanovich worked for the Nobel Company. Her mother graduated from the prestigious Demidov women's Institute for nobel ladies and was introduced to the Russian Royal Court in St.

Extensive biography of the artist's biography and her family is enclosed. Nina Neratova graduated from Repin's Institute of Art in Leningrad, where she lived and worked. Her works are housed in multiple Russian Museums including Pushkin's Museum of Russian Art in Moscow, and many private collections around the world. The attached materials include a photograph of the painter with the painting being listed standing behind her.

The painting was exhibited at the prominent NB gallery in Moscow. It was legally exported out of Russia in 2012 by the International Art Fund with a special permission by the Russian Ministry of Culture. Original certificate of authenticity is being enclosed. Original pre-WWII Russian Impressionistic works are extremely rare and highly priced in today's market. The paintinG is executed with great skill and sensuality picturing the artist at her bedroom dressing table looking in the mirror, showing great influence of pre-war Leningrad impressionistic movement.
