Vintage Traditional Hairpin /Ornamental Hair Amber Accessory Soviet Russia

  
This is a RARE vintage bronze traditional hairpin or ornamental hair accessory from Soviet Russian. This piece features an engraved double headed eagle that is usually has deep historical and cultural significance with the Byzantine Empire, and later with the Serbian, Albanian and Russian traditions. There is a small piece of polished Amber embedded adding to its ornamental value. The pointed end was likely used to be inserted into the hair, securing a bun or another traditional hairstyle. It is handcrafted and I think thins was used along with the Russian custom attire. It measures 8 1/4" long and approximately 3 1/2" wide. It weighs 1.7 ounces or 48.194 grams.

This is a vintage piece and comes from my own personal collection or that I inherited from my Mom. My Mom traveled all over the world and collected beautiful objects especially hand made. My mom was from Russia and always looked for unique Russian pieces.
