For sale original USSR (Soviet) Coat of Arms that was used on the border of the USSR. This is a rare and original Soviet Coat of Arms that was mounted on a border post of the USSR during the early Cold War era. Dated between 1946 and 1956, this piece represents a unique and transitional moment in Soviet history.

What makes this artifact especially valuable is that it features 16 ribbons, symbolizing the 16 Union Republics of the USSR during that brief post-war period. Among them is the Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic, the 16th republic, which existed independently from 1940 until it was absorbed into the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) in 1956. After that point, the USSR officially recognized only 15 republics until its dissolution in 1991.

Each ribbon bears the iconic Soviet slogan Proletarians of all countries, unite! In the language of each republic, including Finnish, making this a rare example of Soviet symbolism that acknowledges the temporary inclusion of a republic that would later be erased from official history. The presence of Finnish on this Coat of Arms is a striking reminder of the USSR's shifting borders and political strategies, especially regarding its territorial gains from Finland after the Winter War and WWII.

The dimensions are 20 cm by 22 cm. The weight is around 924g. The item is in good condition. Please note that there are some defects, such as holes, stains or rust on the metal.
