Soviet Russian USSR WWII medal Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class with serial number in the 700-thousand range range, awarded in May 1945 to Private Mikhail Afanasevich Popadyuk, an artilleryman (gunlayer) of the 849th Red-Banner Artillery Regiment, 294th Red-Banner Suvorov-Kutuzov-Bogdan Khmelnitsky Rifle Division. Popadyuk earned the award for a battle in Germany on April 21, 1945, during which his gun was up against approximately 2 battalions of enemy troops and 25 tanks. Popadyuk's gun destroyed 2 German medium tanks, 1 heavy tank, and up to 15 enemy troops!
Popadyuk had previously been awarded the Bravery Medal for an action in which his gun destroyed 40 enemy soldiers. As seen in the images! The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents. If you require confirmation in advance, please send me a message, and I will gladly provide images. Reasonable, rational collectors who are genuinely interested in the history represented by an award will make the effort to reach out and will quickly find that everything is in order.
Winner will be provided with archival research (12 pages - including Award Record Card) in electronic format, unredacted, in color. Professional English translation of the Record Card and Citation is available if requested before receipt of item.
